Hi just wondering does anybody here know what's going on here.
Have a 04 opel combo 1.3 cdti spanners light on dash had her plugged in and a fault came up for the egr valve.

Just fitted new egr and new thermostat as both were gone egr was stuck open.was also hard to cold start before this.
Spanner light still on now and when you drive it on it goes into limp mode like it did before.

If you knock off the key it resets and drives normal until you go hard again.
Someone else told me to change air flow meter I'm not sure.
Just wondering does anyone here know much about them.many thanks.
Its the 1.3 fiat common rail engine

    Have you tried another mechanic?

I tried 3 different mechanics 2 had it on diagnostics one said egr valve other said clean map sensor.van is only on 3 heater plugs one broke removing it.lead is off broken one since asked 3 mechanics about cold starts they reckon 3 plugs should start it no bother one mechanic said you don't need plugs to start that van unless it hits minus figures.takes a lot of cranking to start it first start all day it's fine.im getting sick of it now.heater plugs relay tested working 3 functioning heater plugs are working.one lad reckons change battery for a new one and put in a faster starter motor.anyone on here ever own one and have these issues.cheers

Get it on live data and watch the rail pressure build as you crank it, if it takes a while to hit 300 bar (the pressure needed to start) then there is either a worn injector or the hp pump is failing. These will cause both limp mode and slow starting

Thanks I'll try that.it has my heart broke only thing saving it is I'm fond of it and its not worth selling or trading on I'd rather keep it.saying that one of these mornings it won't start and flatten the battery and I could well end up sinking a sledge in the bonnet
