Hi, I'm currently on maternity benefit usually receiving 230 a week. This week I was only paid €153 and my Maternity leave is not up until the 5th of January. Does anybody know why I would have taken an almost €80 drop? 😡 Il be calling them on Monday to see what the problem is but I'm wondering if it happened to anybody on here before or if anybody would know about it?

I'd say it's a mistake I'd give them a ring. I just had my last payment there recently + that was reduced but that's because it's the last payment + I started mine mid week.

Yeah I'm hoping it's just a mistake.... my daughter came 7 weeks early and I received an SWA payment for 2 weeks before my maternity befefit kicked in. I have all the letters confirming my maternity leave anyway and my SWA confirmation letter and invoices so fingers crossed it's just a mix up 😩

If you daughter came early then your ML would have started straight away. My son was 3 weeks early so my ML started then + finished at end Nov rather than Dec. Is 5th Jan you new revised date?

It was always meant to be the 5th of January... I was taken out of work a few days before she came along ... I went to my local social welfare office (as sick leave still hadn't come through since I was taken out of work) and they gave me an emergency payment until my Maternity would come through but it was only just over a week In the difference of me being due to get it.

If it was always the 5th Jan but your daughter came 7 weeks early then it could be that your Maternity leave is now up. Once they are born you cant get sick leave it changes straight away to ML. Would I be right in thinking she was born around the end of May? You count 26 weeks from the exact day that they are born not your due date. If so that's the same as me + mine is now up.

No she was born the 20th of June ... well I didn't get a Maternity leave payment until the 8th of July no back payments nothing. I spent the week in hospital but the Monday I got out I went to the social welfare office explained I had her early and I would need my maternity leave to put through. They put through the sick money from a few days after her being born it was the amount for one single and one Child (€215) also have the letter to prove this letter also states that the sick money is from the 24-6-16 until the 7-7-16 and then my maternity benefit would start on the 8-7-16. It's all on the one letter. Got another letter a week later stating my Maternity benefit would start on 8-7-16 and finish on the 5-1-17

If it's 20th June then yea they must have made a mistake. I'm surprised though that they didn't start it until 8th July. God that was a lot of hassle for you when you were only out of hospitial + trying to look after a baby born at 33 weeks! I was lucky all I had to do was ring my employer + they sorted it with social welfare for me. In my case I did get back pay in my first payment so I only got 24 but worked out the same amount as 26 weeks.

Yeah she was in the Neo Natal so didn't get to take her home with me :-( but I explained that to them over there so maybe them giving me the sick leave so I could wait on Maternity to come through they probably thought they were saving me hassle haha ... Awh il call first thing Monday morning anyways and see if it was a mistake! Fingers crossed!

I'd start with the Mat leave section, they are usually brilliant and have contacted the SW office directly for me and saved me a lot of time.

I was actually onto them today there was a huge mix up with dates on their part and on my employers part. Emailed on all my letters as evidence and they'll be back to me tomorrow about it
