I do not think so for most sprays to work week has to be actively growing. Ground temperatures are gone too low for weeks killers to work.

Use Roundup Bio-active on them not the standard Roundup. Its the only one that works in cold weather

Easily tried now, but would take till springtime when the growth starts to see if it was effective,
It should ly dormant till spring or maybe work very slowly in the rush stem if applied on a dry day,
But at this time of year will take a few months to notice change,

Would topping do any good now? Oldman wreckons would just make them worse?

Not make them worse. You'll have a nice green stem in two to three months, to spray successfully,
But in that way you'll have to wait till there grown a bit to spray rather than chancing the stem now.
Ideally. Top and spray a new rush in spring time, otherwise a heavy dose now should stunt them,
Usually takes to sessions of spray, 2 years in s tow to put manners on them.

Top first and spray or spray and then top

Sprayed with D50 last week of October. Certainly had an effect.
    Rushes going red.
Seemed to be hard on the grass as well.
Very clear to see the edge of the spray pattern along sides of the field.
