Oil filter on boiler leaking

    Hi,

I noticed the filter (I think?) on my oil boiler is leaking a little. Should I be concerned and is it safe to use the boiler right now?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

It's not leaking much. Put a tray or bowel under it and replace the bowel and O ring tomorrow. That bowel should have been replaced on you service. Go to a plumbing shop and buy a new filter with an aluminium bowel. Less than €10. Unscrew the bowel off the new one. Turn off tap beside old one and replace as above. Be prepared to catch about a cup full if oil and throw it back into the tank.

Ps don't go near the existing bowel. It easy to make it worse.

Just looked at your second pic. Has that ever been serviced? That fire valve needs to be corrected.

A new boiler was put in about 5 months ago because the old one was ancient. I thought he replaced the valve! Should I avoid using the boiler for now and get the plumber back to take a look? I'm not very adept at these things, sadly.

Put the bowel under the filter. Don't knock it when doing it. If that's all that's leaking, you shouldn't even get a soup spoon full in the bowel.
You can use it for now. Get bowel sorted tomorrow. Get installer back to sort out fire valve. I can only assume he didn't fill out boiler passport either.
When I see sloppy work like that, I start to suspect everything.

Alright, thanks for the help! By the way are you a plumber? I'm located in the Sunny South East myself, maybe you could come take a look :D

Maybe I could, but its the installers baby for now. He needs to take responsibility for it. Get him to commission it properly and fill out boiler passport and then you can send it off. It will give you a certain warranty and also go some way to ensuring a proper job.
