    Hi All,

I'm looking to get rid of Sky and go with an FTA box.

First off, I have a smart TV which when I moved into the house I had connected to Saorview. When I got in Sky, the installer connected the Sky box to the Aerial as well as the satellite. Can you tell me why he did this?

My requirements are just the 1 tv that I would like to receive the UK channels and Irish Channels. I don't mind having two remotes where I need to switch from Saorview to Satellite, but would prefer one if possible.

I would like the ability to record and watch a different show at the same time and series link with a decent EPG.

Could anyone recommend a box that would be suitable?

    Thanks

They do this so that Saorview and the Sky analogue output can be combined in the box to feed other TVs around the house via a coax cable connected to one of the RF outputs.

Can't recommend a box that'll do both Saorview and satellite but for satellite I recommend a Humax Freesat box, twin tuners for recording, auto updating, 7 day guide etc.

For Saorview recording only one official box is available - http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-23-WP6500
