Can someone tell me how to put the SW1070 zone soak test

I would Test a Zone for a day or so

Zone Menu / zone option / Inhibit = Y (currently set) Do I also then set Soak = Yes

What other Options do I need to set SMS Add Soak ?

Can I then set the alarm for NIGHT and see if I get a SMS ?

or Am I missing some other Option to set

    Thanks
    Gary

Inhibit in the attributes just allows the zone to be inhibited.
Soak is the attribute you want. This will not activate the alarm but it will log all the activation for you to check back on.

Ok Check the log today and found that the Alarm Open Message on the Zone. So I will take the two new sensors off the Zone and then Soak test to see if I get the Issue.

So your zone on soak test opened @ 6:41:19 and then restored itself a few seconds later.

Yes so does it look like there is another fauty sensor on the zone since i took the new sensors off?

Ok Cannot find the fault so I will have to Take off each of the sensors until the Open Zone/Close Zone stops

    Have you a multi meter?

    Hi KoolKid

I do and I did the recommended way to test but all the tests. (Disconnect from the alarm and use a MM @ 20 ohms then tested each of the sensors and they went up and came down to the same number. Can I individually test each sensor? Do I Just put the MM over the 2 white cables going to the shock sensor?

I dont think I have have any EOL resistors.

The issue is it only happens every 2 or 3 days I get the alarm open alarm closed on the soak. Today the log had NIGHT and Unset only.

I did a walk test yesterday and one of the sensors went off when I hit the window and then went off about 4 seconds after that. Tested it a few times and a few times it did the same so I have also isolated that sensor.

    Cheers

Wiring the whole loop to a meter is the best way to test. Tap each sensor about 20-30 times.

    Thaks KoolKid

hmmm Dont have any alarm cable.

Is it not the same just to unhook from alarm and use that as the loop?

Also is there a way to separate upstairs onto 2 or 3 zones zones ?

Hi if you disconnect the alarm zone from the panel you can then connect the meter in series at any point.
Have you spare zones in the panel to split up that zone.
Is it all on the same cable?

    Hi KoolKid

I have a SW1070 with 2 or 3 Spare zones. The zone upstairs looks to have 2 * 6 core cables going to each of the sensors. and Im sure that when the alarm guy replace the 8/12 with the SW1070 the zones were split upstairs.

On a 6 core loop you could split into 2 zones using a common tamper or 3 zones without the tamper.

    Hi KoolKid

Can you tell me how to do that put in onto 2 zones with a common tamper?

I think Ive found the faulty sensor. Since I took that third sensor off the loop not had any Open Alarms in the log for 3 days now. Will give a few more days and then change that sensor and put back on the loop

At the panel have you just a single cable?
Can you tell me how many cores you have on that cable?

So, if you look at all the windows /doors on the zone ...
Is there 1 with a single cable & the rest with 2 cables?

You could sacrifice the tamper loop and split it into 2 zones.

Ah I see what your getting at, use the tamper cables on some of the knock sensors then move that pair onto another zone and then loop out the tamper on the board.?
