Seen a 2007 Suzuki swift 1.3 with 50k miles from main dealer for around 4k.

Looking for a run around m, something safe and reliable for the missus.

    Any thoughts on the above.

can't really go wrong with a swift, reliable, quite enjoyable to drive, won't break the bank on either fuel nor insurance.

Have her take a test drive to see if she likes it, should be a no brainer, beware though, depending on your current motor, you might end up driving it more than she will ;)

They're a good car. Main dealer and low mileage are plusses too.

Have had one for ~6 years now... absolute tank of a machine and has never let us down.. got ours with ~60,000km on it and it's now at ~180,000km. Literally don't think I've had to replace anything apart from some bulbs (and for the record the passenger side headlight is a bitch to get at).

Will be very tempted to buy a new swift (new model out next year) and as with most small cars the only issue is fuel economy over long distance / at motorway speeds and boot size / space for back seat passengers but presumably you're not concerned with either if it's just a runabout for one / two people.
