    Thats it exactly

Spent almost an hour on hold but got through to the helpline

You may be unable to log into ROS at the moment. If so and you use Chrome for ROS the following steps should make it possible to log into ros.

Check that ROS cert backup is recent
    If using Chrome
Select 3 dots top right of screen
    Select Settings
    Select Advanced Settings
    Scroll down to Privacy
    Select Clear browsing data

Go to login to ROS restore backup files.

I had same issue with Mozilla Firefox. Cleared history and loaded ROS cert again and it worked.

Thanks guys....I could log in but when I tried to do a payment it told me my password was incorrect....

I logged in using a different laptop and it worked fine... strange one...

My ros cert expired the week before the tax deadline (great timing).
    Maybe you had similar issue?

    Same problem here using IE.

Enter your password as normal and when you get the 'Your details are incorrect' message just press F5 and reenter your password, it should work then.

They did an update on Saturday and basically everybody had to clear their cache and cookies, but of course they could not put that on the website.

Ah....that explains it. Thanks for that.

    You're 100% correct...they couldn't put that on their website.

And they don't email you to say they've updated a client's P2C.....and you can't print out a client's RCT payments for a particular period in one go either....

But sure that would be handy for the taxpayer and their accountant....and why would they bother doing that?

And while I'm at it....if I put www.ros.ie into my browser address bar, it's because I want to go to www.ros.ie, not because I want to be diverted to feckin www.revenue.ie
