Slurry tank

    Hi.

    Changing my slurry tank.

    I'm looking at a galvanised 2000gal hi spec, or galvanised 2250 cross tank. Both on same wheels, 28.1 I think.

    The hi spec is working out 200€ more expensive than the Cross tank.

    Looking for opinions on which would be Best Buy?

    Cross are a well built tank, I'd say it's a no brainer with the bigger capacity.

    The hi spec were always a mighty tank to last the test of time ,i had a hi spec with a jurop pump mighty yoke .I would suss out what pump were on both ,well worth comparing

    I think hi spec are always bigger than they quote as well. I think a 2000 model is actually around 2050 gallons. You still see many old hi specs around the place. Seem to have a very good paint finish which stands to them I think.

    We have a cross slurry pump here for about 15 years great machine, couldnt fault their stuff

    Very happy with two hi spec I have here. As previous poster said, the juror pump is the job. Had a major that was a disaster

    Have a 2250 (I think) here. 10yo not a minutes bother and it's flat out Spring and autumn. Really smooth behind the tractor on the road.

    In fairness they are all really good tankers, no bad ones. What will decide it should be what is the best deal you can get. Also try to get a side fill included its fair handy to have.

    Neighbour has a 3000gal tandem conor tanker. The lad he has driving it goes as fast full as he does empty anyway. Lads with hi spec seem to have them a long time tho.

    To be honest price wise its like comparing apples with oranges.

    1.A cross tanker is basically a belmac design being sold at Premium prices. For example the suspension and drawbar structure on the cross is a carbon copy of the belmac along with the pump options.(Not bashing belmac as offer exception value if they suit your application) For a better comparsion get a belmac quote to see the difference which could be substantial.

    2. The hispec has a full support chassis along the belly of the tanker as standard. Helping to disperse loads and stresses evenly throughout the tank. Compare the structure of both as the super structure of the cross is less substantial than that of the hispec.

    3. Resale. A hispec will always sell for a Premium over the cross. See what the hispec dealer will do the 2300 hispec although it will be specified with 31.6 or next tyre size up as from experience 28.1 are better suited to 2000 gallons or less.

    In my own locality the tankers of choice for contractors are hispec.

    I'd go for the cross as galvanised thanks I am told tend to have a longer shelflife,although saying that now I have a 1100 abbey which is 22 year olds and is in moderate condition from the day that it came.

    Massey 7614. Had a 5455 on it for a year or 2, not a bother

    Did u do the deal after ?
    For me it's a kind of a no brainer , it'd have to be the hispec , better built great paint finish and tow very well . Jurop pump works like a dream .. wouldn't touch a cross , no after sales service and if you do get some it ll cost a fortune because what ever the problem was , it'll always have been your fault..
