    No issue with leaking?

No not that I'm aware of

Very frustrating, try opening the nut that attaches the valve to the radiator with the heating turned on. Let a good rush of water out, do it on the flow side first and then on the return side. A radiator in my fathers house does that occasionally and doing what I described gets it going again. I think the pipes airlock, his system is on its last legs tbh there are leaks everywhere.

Similar situation here but only the bottom quarter of the rad heats up; cleaned out the rad last night and bled it but no improvement...well, the 1/4 of the rad that heats up gets a lot hotter now. Will try the advice given here tomorrow.

A rad that's hot on the bottom and cold on top has water circulating through it. The top is full of air.

Just my 2 cents - my Dad and my brother both had similar problems and both were airlocks. It can be the devil finding them - my Dad had to let a lot of water out to get it to clear. The brother figured out there was an airlock in the boiler pump itself - there's some sort of vent on the top of the boiler for that purpose. I only mention it because you could go nuts trying to figure out what's happening otherwise!
