Help - Christmas dilemma

I'm worn out trying to find something to wear for a Christmas work do. It's not a party, just dinner and drinks. I've spent 2 days in town and sent 2 online purchases back and I still have nothing !!
5ft zero, mid 50s , legs are skinny, problem area is mid section. I was thinking of a short, shift dress with black opagues and heels. Found nothing that suited !! I was trying to stay away from black and not a fan of lace.
I don't want to look like a dull or look like a Christmas tree. I'm really conscious that I'll be one of the oldest people there.
I'm now thinking of wearing a dressy top and black skinny jeans

I just looked on the RI site and they have teamed it with black velvet tapered trousers. I can't wear wide trousers (too short) Could be nice ???

I love the first one too. I just had delivery of my Christmas top from littlewoods today. I can't post a link (don't know how) but it's grey and beaded and is €57 on the site. I'm 35 and size 14 I'll be wearing it with black skinnies and heels. I gave up on trying to get a dress nothing seems to look right on me dress wise. Just don't wear something you aren't comfortable in. I think the first top is fab and with nice make up and hair you will feel good and look great. Enjoy

Thanks a million for the feedback. I've ordered the top as they only had 1 left in my size. If it fits and looks ok I might get a pair of trousers like these
