    Hi there,

So, let me begin by saying I got permission to post this from the mods and I'm hoping you good people can help me out by completing a survey as part of my Bachelor of Business degree from CIT.

I have to produce a Business plan with primary research and I'm hoping you people can help me out with this.

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YB9RJ3Z

My business plan is simple. Buy a caravan, pretty it up, clear it out and create a Cocktail Caravan to service weddings and other outdoor events in the Summer.

There would be two tiers it operates at. Either Open bar where the married folks pay a set price for a set amount of cocktails. Or, they ask me to come along and I charge on a per drink basis.

The set price model would be less expensive than the charging per drink price.

The survey is only 10 questions long and I'm hoping you guys can help.

I'd like to thank the mods so much for allowing me to post this. I'll get ye all a pint if ever ye happen to be in Cork....

    Kind Regards,
    Gavin.

If you are charging you would require a bar licence. Good luck to you.

Out of interest, how do you plan on getting past hotels/venues/local councils in order to provide your service?

it's a nice idea, but in public, licensing laws would be a problem, and on hotel sites, they already have cocktails available.

I don't think many people would consider the presence of a caravan a plus at their wedding, let alone pay for it!

Queuing outside at a caravan while at a wedding (especially in a dress not designed for hanging around outside unless it's a lovely day) like you are waiting for a 99 ice cream just seems really tacky to me. Maybe younger people might get a kick out of it (I'm in my 30s), but I know I'd just stick to the bar.

Hi Guys, I'd like to thank everyone for taking part! Got WAY WAY more responses than I expected! Genuinely delighted. Mods, absolutely sound for allowing me to do this. I'll get ye all a cocktail someday if ye ever stay in a certain hotel and resort outside Cork City.

And just to answer a few of the points raised....

In honesty, I don't think the idea would really work... there are only 26 days a year to realistically do it (Friday and Saturdays in Late May, June, July and Early August, but it's just about an idea :D

So, the assignment doesn't have to be fully thought out, a PEST and SWOT is what's called for. But getting past Hotels would be by either paying them or having it built into a package where they get favourable rates. Hotels tend to not like having to do cocktails themselves because of the time involved where most hotels I know of are chronically short staffed, particularly in F+B.

As much as I love the idea of a cocktail caravan arriving to the beach, selling me a Mojito and disappearing, I know Licencing would be an issue, I know of ways around it too, but it's so incredibly time consuming that I know it's fundamentally unlikely.

And as for it being like an ice cream van.... that's what I like about it! :/ It would be a nicely designed caravan of course :D I'm fairly handy with stuff :D

And anyway.... thanks a million folks, I have had well over a hundred responses and I do think that puts me in 1.1 territory for this module at least.

I'm very very sure I'll see at least a couple of ye at weddings in the next while given where I work :D

    Good luck!
    Gavin.
