Have you got the link to upgrade to it?

My phone won't connect to the current wifi. Works everywhere else so I'm presuming it's to do with the router.

I got it sent in an email.....here's the link https://www.virginmedia.ie/besthub?cm_item=vm_ie&cmid=47412930&CMP=eow_6063982

ordered Wed arrived Thurs, easy set up out the box.......certainly nicer looking than my old black Technicolor and it can be used as just a modem with your own router or both

Got one of these today. Is it possible to connect an Apple Airport Express to this modem? Have the router connected but can't connect to the wifi on it. Do I need to change settings on the modem?

'Enable modem mode' in the settings disables wifi on the hub.....you could try that and configure the settings on your apple device

Cheers I'll try that and see if it works.

The new VM hub is great, recommend it. Far better than anything that came from UPC. VM told me to recycle the old Ubee router (I would not put anyone in danger of that). The price increase email arrived right after I signed up for 12 months. Thanks for the post because I thought the increase was just me.

I got the new Hub this morning and it's dreadful!! Download is 5.64 Mbps compared to 48.40 Mbps a week ago and Upload is 7.40 Mbps compared 24.48 a week ago with the old UPC modem... Dreadful stuff.... Can I simply revert back to my old modem ??? (It took me an hour to post this !, I was disconnected three times)...

Mine is great, getting 240MB download over 5GHz wifi on my Chromebook.

My guess would be that you are connecting using 2.4ghz wifi and the channel is congested.

Have got an Android phone or tablet? Download app called Wifi Analyzer & choose best channel.

Just to note I got the new Meidia Hub this week, and it was brutal for gaming, my son found Overwatch unplayable, we had previously used the Horizon as the modem/router and the gaming performance was much better. Solved the problem by getting a 10m Cat5e cable and running it from router to PC. So just a word of warning to any gamers amongs ye, from googling apparently it impacts consoles on wifi as well and is due to some bad code in the firmware that's not yet been fixed. I am grand as I have a gigabit switch and can hard wire that and feed all the consoles and PC's from the 10m Cat5 Cable as they all sit in the same place.

When you first plug the hub in to the cable network, note that it will check for firmware updates, and will run very slowly whilst it's updating, even to the point where its pages time out on your browser.

It also seems to take a long time to reboot, but seems to work ok once it has.

I'm not sure how well it performs as a router, as I put it straight into modem mode.

Once it's in modem mode, you can still access it at 192.168.100.1

I posted this in a separate thread but probably worth posting here again for anyone considering getting the new hub

Good to see some people have had problem free Hub 3.0 experiences. Mine has been the complete opposite – basically a total disaster.

I “upgraded” from the UPC Cisco EPC 3925 to the Hub 3.0 three weeks ago. Got a better deal with VM on the 240mb package and a new Horizon box as well. Basically over the course of 3 weeks I went from decent / stable connectivity with the cisco to unstable / intermittent / slow and finally NO connectivity with the Hub 3.0. During this time I experienced

    - Increasingly frequent disconnects, random modem reboots, power cycling, slow (<5mb/s) connection, T13 timeouts, authentication failures with the Hub 3.0. It ended up not even being able to stay booted up for more that 1 minute
    - Replacement Hub 3.0 sent out to see was the first one was faulty
    - 3 engineer callouts to address noisy line – requires permit to dig – won’t be done for >6 weeks.
    - Endless googling of the various problems with the Hub 3.0 – long evenings of regretting ever “upgrading”
    - 5 lengthy calls to VM to “troubleshoot” the modem. Plug it in here, there, try this, try that, are your cables in properly, have you connected x to y, is the modem obscured, can you do a factory reset etc etc.
    - 10 web chats to VM to try to get this resolved.
    - A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE trying to get the old modem reactivated. “it’s not the modem, the hub 3.0 is bulletproof”, “different modem won’t make any difference”, “we can’t activate the old modem as its not in our system any more”, “we want you to stay on the hub 3.0”. Finally managed to get a tech to agree to reactivate – that request then gets rejected TWICE by some team in Limerick. Finally get the old cisco reactivated last night by telling VM in no uncertain terms that I would leave unless they let me revert back to my previous setup.
    - Now back to stable internet – glad to see the back of the hub 3.0

There IS a problem with my line – for the 8 downstream channels on my cisco the power levels vary from -6 to -16 dBmV with SNR ranging from 32 – 40dB . My theory is that perhaps the Hub 3.0 is grand when you have decent power levels, decent SNR etc. It just couldn’t handle my line though – and for me the Cisco appears to be way more robust. Maybe ill try the Hub again once my line is fixed but for now my advice is to avoid the Hub 3.0 like the plague unless you have a decent line and are aware of the many problems many people have been encountering.

Can anyone tell me if the Virgin Media Hub allows you to set it to your preferred DNS servers? Does it allow you to block access to certain IP addresses at the router?

    Thanks for any reply.

That’s definitely true. The tuners in the Hub 3.0 aren’t as good as the others, even the Technicolor. Saw a circa 2dB drop on the downstream when I switched.

It doesn't allow you to change DNS anyway.
