It's likely to be the silage, are they getting the same stuff as other cattle?

All getting the same. ive to dose them yet, waiting the reccomended 6-8 weeks to do that which will be the next week or two.
Ive heard about trying bread soda or natural yogurt on them.

    Bread soda.

How often would you give it to them? daily?

mix some straw into the silage , create a bit of sodium bicarbonate in the saliva from more chewing and increase the rumen pH, also you could give sodium bicarbonate, cud balls from excess acidity

You can buy it by the 20kg bag. Daily. A shake on a bit of meal.

Get the silage tested. Posters above spot on about the acidity of the silage playing a role. Free choice bicarb will help. Testing the silage will give an indication if you will get away with this or need to mix it with straw/hay
