Progressive/Inclusive Muslim groups in Ireland

    As-salaamu Alaikum,

I am a revert to Islam but I came to it not through the more conservative means that most reverts seem to, but through what some would consider more liberal Muslims online. It's a difficult position because I don't want to be disrespectful of more traditional or mainstream Muslims, but at the same time since I have a hard time fitting into that community it would be nice to connect with Muslims who are more likely to be LGBT friendly etc. and open more to different schools of thought.

In the UK you have Imaam, the Inclusive Mosque initiative etc. and it might be nice to try and organise a chapter of IMI or something similar in Ireland. In particular what I like about IMI is that it's very welcoming of all groups, including more mainstream Muslims and seeks to work with rather than against mainstream Sunni, Shia etc. While the Muslim population is relatively small compared to the UK, I think there is definite need for such a group. Perhaps one exists that I have not encountered.
