Made by a German company. Obvious comparisons to the old fingerbar mowers but a bit more 21st Century. Two sets of blades working against each other (is that how combine cutterbars work?). The tractor the guy has it on is a Deutz 4006 - about 38hp! Width must be at least 18ft.

Wouldnt need a tedder anyway with it so if it cut a heavy crop with be a nice saving for bales. Wonder how it would behave with a rough patch or heavy wet crop?

Looks a lot faster than the old finger bar, I wonder how it would do in a heavy crop?

If you take a look at the guys channel he appears to be also cutting wildlife habitat - fair workout I'd say https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5hZ2qRJh04

The first bit of unlevel ground and the front of it would be in the passenger seat with you

Then how do conventional front mowers work? I assume this one uses the same system/geometry. I've never used a front mower so can't comment further.

I will admit to having a healthy skepticism of the machine, but my reservations are more along the lines of: how often do the cutting blades need to be sharpened?; it has no fingers like an old fingerbar mower - what happens if it hits a stone etc. But if it is a viable alternative to the current system of triple mowers on a large tractor (150hp+) it would be a big shock to the ag system

Would be a serious topper at that width and if you could just work one side it would be class for cutting under wires

I asked the guy in the video I posted how long before he needs to resharpen the blades, he said 300 ha :O
