Shower pressure problem

I recently moved to a new apartment and having a problem with the pressure being far too low in the shower - not usable at all.

I have tried a few things - overall water pressure, cleaned out the shower head etc. but they haven't worked at all.

The shower is one of those ones where you pull a lever to switch from bath to shower (i.e. it is attached to the same unit you would use to fill the bath). The pressure seems to be fine when I fill the bath - but when I use the shower (even with shower head and hose removed) there is no pressure at all, so the fault seems to be somewhere in that system. Any idea what to do or is a plumber necessary?

Where does the cold water for the shower come from? Is it in a tank in an attic somewhere? Or is it actually in the apartment? Maybe directly above the hot press?

It is in the apartment - with the boiler

You will either need to install a pump or there is a pump but it's broken or not switched on

Thank you - is this the case even though there is sufficient pressure at the faucet (for when I fill the bath)?

It might seem like enough pressure at the tap, but when you go another five feet upwards there ultimately isn't enough pressure to the shower. Can you connect the hose to the tap maybe, perhaps its the diverter thats not working right? Although I doubt it. Sounds like you either need a pump, or a pumped shower.
