Major grip change advice

I've been combing through threads on here but they're all years old and I didn't want to dig them up.

I'm cack handed/cross handed/left hand under right. I play off 15. I'm thinking of switching hands to the 'normal grip'. I'm just wondering has anyone ever successfully did this, or know anyone who has achieved it.
Advice I'm looking for is how long would people think it would take for a grip/swing change this big to finally start producing enjoyable golf. I shoot 90ish most rounds so it wouldn't bother me shooting in the 100's for a few months if I reaped the rewards in the long run.

Thing is you will just have to stick to it until it feels comfortable to you. Unlike the pro's who spend hours every day practicing we think after 1 session on the range that it should just happen. Really depends on how much practice you put in.

I played crack for the first 3 years of my golfing life. I got to 13. I thought I'd never change. I thought I'd lose my golfing 'talent' forever. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I changed to normal grip in Feb 2013 and it took me mere weeks to start playing well. It was so much easier than I feared. So much. I obsessed with it. Every chance I got I was holding a club. Within days it felt the norm.

I still play cack for 60 degree wedge and putting. I got down to 7.

Best thing I've ever done. I'd advise anyone who's questioning it to just make the change.

I never had to make such a drastic grip change as yours but I did make a big change about 10 years ago, going from a strong to neutral grip.

The pro I was seeing at the time gave me a pice of cut off shaft with a grip. Told me any type me I was sitting down watching TV to hold it with the correct grip. What it meant was maybe 4 to 5 hours a week of muscle memory.

The single biggest and most rewarding change I ever made.

    Thanks for the replies.
I've been looking online for about a week now and The Lawman is the first person I've seen that has gone through with the change. It's definitely a massive incentive that he was successful in doing it too.
Golfgraffix and Lawman, did you both take it straight to the course. Or practice for a few weeks before bringing it on course?

    I've set this routine out.
    -100 swings a day.
    -Range once during the week.
    -9 Holes Friday.
    -18 Holes Sunday.

I changed a few years ago to and was easier than I expected. Good time of the year to make the jump now. Get a lesson or 2 and work on it across the winter and you'll be up to speed by next summer. Sorry I didn't do it earlier to be honest.

I can't hit a ball cackling handed anymore. Just feels odd.

I stayed away from course for two weeks. Just range work and constantly walking around with a club. Take the pain now and accept some bad golf but you'll be glad you made the move. I would be getting to the range more than once a week. Be patient.

Best of luck if you go for it and I'd be more than happy to give you any more advice.

Off to the range now. I'll try get a video of my swing up. You can give me some tips then?

I changed about two years ago and found it much easier than I expected. A couple of solid sessions at the range and it should feel normal.

It's great to see so many successfully changing over.
Just back from the range, I've noticed I've nowhere near the power I had in my cack swing, hopefully that will improve.

Gonna take you a few sessions to get your speed up. You should really say now that you are starting from scratch. Albiet from a good base already. Get a lesson and just keep plugging through. Don't stop. Get obsessed. If you're on Twitter follow me to see some first class obsession!

It definitely does. It feels very weird at first, you are changing something that you've been used to for years, but don't lose faith.

    I can kinda relate,
I changed from cack handed in Hurling when I was about 14, took months to adjust but got there and was a way better striker of a sliothar afterwards.
    - In relation to golf, grip changes.
I have changed from interlock, to overlap, to double overlap and back to interlock - and it has been seamless for me.
