Hi all. Had a look at a 1990 785xl 2wd yesterday. Fairly clean machine with 5600 hrs. Never painted so original machine. Dealer ásking 8500 for her. Is there anything to look out for and do they give much trouble. Thanks in advance

I paid that for a four wheel drive version (785xl) with 6000 hours on it so price would be on the high side. Check for rust on cab front of cab by pedals. Roof can leak also check cab trim for signs of water ingress. Brake linkages get worn, hard to engage gears had to re do mine as engaging first gear was impossible. Has it a torque amplifier/ gear splitter? Expensive to repair so often just welded so you'll only have 8 forward and four reverse gears as a result. Cab is confortable though.

You're into 844 money there John. The difference between one of them and a 785 is night and day.

Its a 785xl i looked at not a 795 that is in thread title. My bad. Dont know bout gear splitter must check that. Cab in gud nick. No rust. Its a tractor that wasnt abused. Im trading a 1985 1494 2wd against it. Getting 4250 for my own but hoping to get 4500 for it.
