No m8,some companies do pay it but its totally at the companys discrection

Sick pay caries from company to company. Some pay none at all, others more generous. Check out your contract

Even within companies, the duration of paid sick leave can vary a lot by role.

Depends on the company! Mine pay 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay before they cut you off!!

Thanks all..not for me but a friend...I was really enquiring I suppose was their legislation on the matter here...appears not..

There's not even any statutory entitlement to sick leave, much less sick leave.

Very uncivilised, IMHO.
