FreeSat & Saorview box with recording - is Amiko Alien 2 only option?

Replacing Sky and need a single box capable of receiving Saorview and Free to Air satellite channels. (single box required as swapping remotes is undesirable and recording capability of both Saorview and FreeToAir is essential)

Looking around I came across a package that includes the Amiko Alien 2 Triple Tuner. This box seems to do everything I need (I think); two sat recievers and 1 digital receiver allows for recording two sat singals or two digital singals at a time. Anyone any experience with this box? I did see one review that said the box is underpowered and the UI is a bit flaky (with Spark, the default UI installed anyway; can upgrade to Enigma2).

Have I any other options on boxes that can achieve the same thing?

Edit: Mixed up FreeSat and FreeToAir in heading but tbh I'm unsure of the difference.
Edit2: Googled it and main drawback is non updating frequencies in the channels?

Edit++: Ariva 153 combo does something similar but only has 1 sat and 1 dig receiver so you can't record and watch sat.

Just to point out that to watch one and record another on a different mux you need two DVB-T tuners for the Saorview channels, much the same as needing two DVB-S tuners for satellite channels.

If it happens that the two channels are on the same mux or transponder then one tuner would do to watch one channel and record another (or more than one).

You need to decide if you need two DVB-T tuners as well as two DVB-S tuners.

Thank you for this. I didn't realise this but fortunately this problem can be avoided using second (saorview only) box we have lying around.

To answer your question - there are other options,

What you are looking for is a triple/quad tuner that Enigma 2 works on.(The Alien 2 also has Spark OS which will do this)
Technomate and Xtrend and others have triple/quad tuners that run on Enigma2.
There is a thread in the Foreign Satellite forum about the best Enigma2 boxes.

The Alien box has less processing power and memory than the others but I have been using it for over 3 years now and it works well enough.
