    Hi Guys,

Posting for a friend who doesn't have an account. His tank in his apartment has started making a really loud noise. This noise can be heard in everyroom of the apartment, it is a top floor apartment also. I can't attach a video but I have the video on you tube if anyone can take a listen maybe it sounds familiar to some. Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

My tank is also making a loud noise whenever I use the bathroom taps or toilet flush. The motor may need to be replaced which is not a cheap option, but I saw a Youtube video that placed the pump on a ceramic tile with silicon underneath and it seemed to work.. I'm checking out some plumbers near where I live to see if they can fix it. Also my hot water tap in the bath stops running after a few seconds. Luckily I have a second bathroom with a shower.

That is the sound of the water filling into the tank. From the sound that you have, it sounds as if the tank is quite empty or only half full.
Climb up and see into the top of the tank. The water should only be approx 6 - 8 inches ftom the very top. If it is quite a distance down and filling slowly then there is an issue with the mains water pressure or the ballcock is partially blocked.

Yes there are loud bangs as you listen further in to the video. It is almost like it is coming from the pipe work. Could it be a faulty pump that is jamming / stopping then cutting back in and shifting the pipe work, which in turn is causing the noise. He tells me that there was work carried out on the roof of the apartment block before the noise started.

I think you need to get someone in to take a look at it. If it is happening frequently enough, then it should be easy to figure out what the problem is.
