Running in Barcelona

    Hi,

I'm heading to Barcelona for a long weekend. Anyone been over there recently and can recommend routes to try out / visit? They don't seem to have a parkrun community in place there yet, otherwise I'd drop by. Ideas for runs welcome. I'm staying near Sagrada Familia so I'm mid way between the sea-front and hillier parks.

    Cheers,

    SJ

Along the beach is good for a run. I did a few runs around Barcelona actually. Running on the street is a pain as you have to stop at junctions all the time.

If you are only there for a weekend the beach might be your best bet.

This was a pretty nice route:

Love Barcelona, stayed in El Born the last time and did a few laps of the small Citadel Park to keep me honest; 37 degree heat made it interesting. The seafront or the larger parks are the only places for distance, really.
Up by Sagrada Familia the grid system will slow you down and the medieval area is narrow, twisty and full of people.
Mont Juic is hilly if you like that like of torture, or there's miles of flat promenade along the seafront. Jealous now...

Cheers. Good tips. I'm happy to run hills too. Shall explore and report back.

These are in Montcada around 10 km from Barcelona, if you have time and transport a recce would be great. Not sure if course details are available yet. Race seems to be connected to this event: http://www.runedia.com/cursa/201614734/montescatano-cursa-de-muntanya-de-montcada-i-reixac/2016/?lang=ca

Don't know if it's too late (i.e. if you're in Barca already)...but you can run along the coast for pretty much as far as you like...just run down the Ramblas, hit the water, and turn left. Some bike trail, some footpath, some wacky sculpture park, the odd marina...

    Hi

I found the coast run which was fab. A runners treat alright. Flat. Good weather. Water and loos a plenty. Lots of other runners. Great scenery.

I'm inland a few k and found lovely trails around Park Guinardo. A nice trail running spot.

If I was on my own I would have gone a bit further to explore like Parc de Collisera . Another time.

Lovely mild weather all week despite late November.

    Cheers.

I've hiked (i.e. walked) around there a few times, great trails and views alright. Looks like you got a few nice runs in anyway.

Last day today. Ran around trails on the public park around Park Guell. Lovely spot. Later in the day its a no go as its jammers with tourists. Flat, it ain't, but the views from the top are great.
