Tractor advice

    Hi Folks,

Looking for a 6 Cylinder tractor with a decent cab.

Budget - Must be under €10k

Ideas - IH 956XL, Fiat F Series, anything else?

Spotted an F100 locally, seems to have relatively low hours, non-electric lift and splitter, 40k box.

Does anyone know much about these wagons?
Any trouble stories I've read online refers mostly to electrical trouble.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Daniel

I know but we may be able assist him better if he put a max and min on it. From what you've selected op, I'd choose the f series Fiat, not sure if they can be purchased within your budget though.
Not a Jd fan myself but drove a 3050 some years ago and that would be another option or the 3350 (should be within budget at this stage).

    Somewhere between 100 and 120

Required as a second tractor, we don't need any mad power, more just weight on the front so she'll handle a double bale lifter in the summer months.

    Any suggestions welcome!

Worth checking out the f100. New Holland 7840 is another possible if within budget. The 3050 & 3350 are good reliable work horses but loud

    Thanks for your reply.

Anything to watch for with the F100s?

7840 are nice surely, I've drawn in bales with one, but out of budget unless rough!

Hadn't considered the Deere - are parts expensive for them?

Also, MF 3000 series, anyone have experience of them?

The f100 is pretty bullet proof but the electronic lift control and the syncros if abused can give trouble. On the deere, I can't comment on parts expense, but I drove a 3050 with a 14ton dump trailer in tow for two years and all I got was a puncture. I was young and between jobs then and highly regard them and that's from someone that isn't a deere fan but credit where it's due.

Don't know much about them tbh but know they have electrical gremlins and tend to rust more than they should. Didn't think of one of them but I guess if got at the right money they'd be ok. Can't be much electrics in comparison to today's tractors. There's a 3080 (I think) near me and it's a real sweet sounding tractor.

Forgot to add, may be worth starting a thread on this in the farming section. Numerous heads is better than one ðŸ‘

Do you know much about the synchros?
How big of a job to do them, is it a cab off job?

I like the look of them but would be afraid of buying into trouble.

I'm nearly sure it's a tractor split job but fiats are easy work on.

I wouldn't mind that, I'd have a lash at doing a clutch myself so that wouldn't bother me too much.

Ive a 80hp 2wd crystal that draws fusion bales with a double bale handler with no issues. 300kg of weights and a bale handler that was made for her so the bales are carried as close to the tractor as possible. The back of the lift arms are nearly rubbing the back of the bales.
What ever you buy make sure it has a lift capable of lifting 2 wet bales.
ie 300 series massey has a 2.5 ton lift. When bales get wet some are known to struggle.

Jesus, she must be a good one! I think myself value of those old Crystals will go up in years to come.

That's good advice, thanks a million!
