Has anyone seen a Rock Vac or something like it in Ireland? I'd be looking to rent one if possible.

We've so much rock to pick up in our garden and it's back breaking using a shovel and takes an absolute age.

Have a search for stone rakes, they are walk behind machines that form rows of stones that are easier to pick.
Note: i said stones not rocks☺
But if its rocks you have then its a pick by hand type of job id say. Never seen a roc vac.

Fills a wheelbarrow in three minutes! - This rockvac is designed for the lazy, elderly or people who are unable to do the work.

Dig a few deep pits and rake the rocks into them and cover over with topsoil.

Never heard of a Rock Vac but judging by the description surely it would pick up the soil as well. How do you avoid this or do you intend to replace the soil?

how big are the rocks? pay some kids to lift them, may be easier and cheaper than hiring a specialised piece of kit.

For a start it's American and says rocks when we say stones. Have you rocks or stones? Don't pick up stones with a shovel as it's much quicker by hand. Where are your stones? Newly dug ground for lawn? Vegetable patch? Flower bed?

If you have rock then no vac will lift them.

Break up & turn the soil with a shovel and a fork and then rake it. All of the stones and bigger chunky stuff should start "coming" to the surface (in effect, getting caught in the rake). Then you take the big stuff away by hand, and rinse and repeat until you're reasonably happy with the amount of stones in your soil.

It's a pain timewise, but shouldn't be that back-breaking. Just don't do it when the soil is very wet.
