Career change from Law to HR

I am currently working in Law and have been for the past 3 years. I began my FE1s & tried them a number of times but failed them. I do not feel Law is for me, this is not an easy decision I came to after 4 years in college & a Masters in Law. However I just do not envisage myself working in Law.

I have been thinking about HR and have contacted agencies about it. They advise with no prior experience in the area & no academic background it is extremely hard to place someone. So I looked at CIPD accredited courses in NCI and Dorset College.

Does anyone have any views of either these courses or just generally? hope this is in the right thread! Thanks!

CIPD is a great way to get the education you need and the knowledge you need to work in Hr, however your post reads kinda like im fed up at failing the FE1's and HR seems a bit easier, its not. i work in HR and completed the FE1's.

like law there is good and bad HR, but if you want to build a career out of it, you need to graft and need to be able to do the long hours like law and prove your worth. UCD do a very good Masters and the NCI do as well, very well respected.
Just avoid for pay for play schools Smurfit etc...

maybe try to get onto a grad programme or similar if you can or offer to do some shadowing if you know anyone in the industry.

Thanks for your reply! I can understand why it seems like I am jumping ship but i have really thought about this. And I equally understand every job comes with their negativities. I am thinking of coupling employee relations with mediation. A graduate programme sounds like a good idea
