Anyone leaving kids in any car is an idiot, they can literally go up in flames in minutes.

Thought it was Rolf Harris' son. Rolf could go up a kid in minutes.

For people who don't know, he left his son in the car when going to work. The hot sun cause temperatures to rise inside the car, and the boy died.

He said it was just a terrible mistake and he just forgot to drop his son off at daycare and left him in the car by accident (this has happened other parents before, also with fatal consequences), and just didn't realise/remember until he got back into his car after work (even though he did put some purchases in the car in the middle of the day).

Prosecution pointed to his extra-marital affair(s?) and argued that he wanted out of his family life, and this death was part of that plan.

I would have thought you would need a bit more evidence than a suggested motive to take this from a manslaughter conviction to one for murder. Oh wait. This is the boards.ie school of jurisprudence.

It happens very regularly. I read a really interesting article about it which I will try to find later. A lot of people featured in the article would have been of your view until it happened to them. I will try to find the article by I would say, try to keep an open mind.

If this is the story I read a while back, they had proof he was looking up how long it would take for a child to die when locked within the car.

This suggests that there was no such evidence...

Just read the story. WTF? You need a license to own a dog, why can anybody have children?

No idea. All I can do is assume I'd fail to be issued a "baby license" due to incompetence and not contribute. Hopefully.

If you're talking about leaving kids in hot cars, this can happens very easily to good parents from all walks of life. Backwards-facing seats, distraction, lateness amongst other factors can all contribute.

**** man. Several hours. We're not talking about getting caught out doing the shopping for a half hour. Remember too the weather over there is way more extreme. Air con is a necessity not a luxury. I'm genuinely not trying to **** on people but this story is WTF.

The most frequent time for it to happen is at the start of the working day, usually because the distracted parent thinks that they have already done the creche drop off and doesn't see the kid because it's a backward-facing seat. People are advised to put things they need for work on the back seat so that they see the child.

I have on a couple of occasions left my lunch in the car over the years for a number of hours. Hell, I once forgot about it for the whole day I was so stressed!

I have NEVER, NEVER EVER forgotten a child in the car. Not even for a MINUTE.
I don't know what planet people are on that say this is possible or what sort of person could even forget about having YOUR own child on board!
It's not a bleeding gym bag ffs.
