i went to see 'i do not like thee doctor fell' by bernard farrell a few weeks ago in the abbey. what was supposed to be a comedy turned out as a dragged out, dated, long-winded disappointment.

i'm not sure what made it so bad, it could be the fact that it was written about thirty years ago and hasn't been staged in the abbey since then. the acting was ok, could have been better, especially from tara flynn (suzy). vincent mcCabe was good, but played a minor role.

did anyone else see it? or heard of it?

    yea, i saw it

i thought twas interesting! very confusing though, but that was good because it made you think about it, about "normal" people actually being insane, and reinforcing the moral that you cant tell a book by its cover!

I went to see it on the preview night. Don't know that much about theatre, but for what my opinion is worth, I enjoyed. I thought it was very funny, and asks more questions that it answers. This is also the kind of fiction I like, which would kind of affect my opinion.
All of Joe's little stories and digressions... I thought that was wonderful

i agree that it asked a good few worthwhile questions, like the leader woman at the end seemed a lot more insecure than i had guessed before.
but i still found joe's character too weird, i mean was there a bomb, or was there not? come on!
also, where they started beating him up, i thought it was too random. it didn't fit in with the way the play had been going up to then i thought. anyway, at least we're discussing it, and i'm sure that that was what it was written for. back to the whole asking more questions than it answers thing.
