Upgrade options for super q 85/115

    All,
    My super Q is 15 years old and the thermostat is broken, the boiler is hitting the 85 degree automatic failover........my plumber says there aren't replacements available. And I haven't been able to find any online myself either.

    So looks like I need to upgrade the boiler which I guess is coming to the end of its life anyway.

    I have 2 story 2,600 sq ft detached house with 3 zones (upstairs/downstairs/hot water) TRVs on the rads and 2 nests to control the temp in the zones.

    I'm wondering how to dimension the boiler considering that I don't usually have all 3 zones on together and I know this Impacts the efficiency of the boiler?

    I guess I go for an outside condenser boiler? Any recommendations?

    Alternative thermostat (approved by firebird) can be fitted, see their Utube video.
    But basically I as a service engineer wouldn't bother.
    New boilers result in a 30% saving on fuel.
    Personal feed back.
    Grant Vortex or Euroflame is the job.
    I would recommended nothing else.

    17 Rads total, 4 small bathroom and about 13 fairly normal size i would say

    I'd install a 50/90 grant vortex onto the system. Powerflush the system beforehand is a must too.

    the next size up would be the equivalent of the SuperQ 85/115.......do you think the smaller one would work? are there any rule of thumb rules about how a condenser boiler works efficiently?

    appreciate the feedback.

    Yes. Slightly undersizing is more much more important. Oversizing a condensing boiler makes it less effeciant
