The little nose thingy

Hello. My glasses are in bother. The little rubber thing that sits on the side of my nose has fallen off and God knows where it is. Is it possible for my optician to replace it? I can't function without my glasses and feel a bit strange with one part missing :(

Go down to your optician and they will replace it for you, but they will charge you for it. I had to get mine replaced last week

Thank you. I really don't know what I would do without them.

If you regularly use one optician,go in and they might even do it for free.
Anytime mine or the kids glasses lose them little rubber things, I pop into Tesco Optician and they do it for free as they know me quite well.

When mine broke I used one from my old glasses. Bit tricky to get on but it worked

    Did they charge you?

    Did they charge you?

They did. €4 along with a reminder how important it is for me to have a spare set and do you know that in Germany it's required to have a spare in your car? :p

I didn't know that but it is quite logical. I would be a danger to the general public if I were to drive without my glasses. I keep a pair of prescription sunglasses in the car though. Which is fine unless I accidently break my specs at night time and need to drive.

I have some spare nose pads at home, just in case they break off. I can't remember where I bought them now because it was a few years ago but they're useful to have.

If you have your prescription, you can buy a spare pair from Zenni optical online. You would get them for less than €50.
I buy all my glasses from Zenni, but the kids all get theirs from Tesco Optician. I save about €300 on the price I would have to pay in Ireland.

I do but I need my eyes tested because it's been a while. My prescription was -7 which is very high but I'll check out Zenni.

When your prescription is that high do glasses bring your sight back to 'perfect' or would it still be a bit off??

I'm not sure if I know what perfect sight is. I've worn glasses most of my life and can see extremely well with them but perhaps perfect eyes can see further and with more clarity. My feeling is that my sight is still a bit off.

I'm -10 in both eyes and at my last test my optician said with my glasses my eyesight was perfect. I could see the charts that a non glasses wearer could see.
