Cross border tax question Ire/UK

    Hi Guys,

    I have just been told by a colleague that I might be subject to tax in Ireland.

    I live in Ireland for most of the year, but I work as a PAYE employee for a UK company and conduct all of my work duties in the UK. I pay normal UK PAYE tax at source. This situation has arose as I am Irish, but work for 2/3 week stints on offshore rigs in the UK sector. When I am not working, I return home to Ireland and again typically have 2/3 weeks off. I do about 10 of there stints a year, so therefore spend most of the year in Ireland (over 183 days). And have been doing this for the past four years.
    When I first started this work I looked up to see if I was liable to pay tax in Ireland, and decided I didn't due to the double taxation rule between Ireland and the UK. Reading up some more on it recently has lead me to be lost in the legal speak.

    Would anyone have any experience with this or could shed some light?
