Hiya, just wonderd if anyone could advise me as to wether you should definitely get the water tank changed when replacing a timing belt. Its a 2004 petrol 1.4 Ford Focus,we replaced it before but due again,do alot of mileage. Garage that done it before not there anymore and when enquiring we were told it might not need the water tank done aswell I thought from before it was standard? Also any opinions on pricing? Thks alot ☺

Water Tank ??? I probably have the wrong end of the timing belt here but do you mean water pump?

It's false economy not to replace the pump, there's very little extra labour involved.

Sorry ye the pump. Garage today said theyd do it but wont necessarily have to do the pump,I was assuming it had to be done after last time? Thks

It's not run by the timing belt so it doesn't need to be done.

It's good practice to replace it though as it would involve removal of the timing belt to replace in the future

Its should only add a few minuted to the time taken for the whole job so shouldn't cost much more than the price of the part.
