Fridge not cold enough

Our fridge doesn't seem to be working, the items in it aren't very cold and milk goes off in it after only a few days and well before its use by date.

I suspected we might need a new seal because the door wasn't always closing properly so I contacted my landlord and he came up and attached a new seal, but we're still having the same problem. We have the temperature dial turned up to 5 so that's not what's causing it (at least I don't think so).

Any suggestions on how to fix it??

Have you got it stuffed full of food? Those small fridges can't handle a lot of food.

A full fridge has the easiest time of things if regularly opened.

Check the back of the fridge, is it covered in dust and spiderwebs?
If so then you need to clean it so the fridge can cool itself.
If there is no airflow then you will need to enable it to get air.
The heat is removed from inside the fridge it needs to be able to escape from somewhere else.

It could also be faulty, gas leaked out or compressor damaged.

Can you hear the compresser running and cutting out/back in again etc?

Try not to store anything on Top of the fridge, as was said earlier, you need a decent airflow

If you have a thermometer throw it inside for a few minutes and check the reading to confirm the fridge is above 4 C. As you said you felt things inside didn't feel very cold so it probably is too warm but it's hard to judge these things by feel.

If there's an icebox in the fridge it should be easy to see if it's functioning.
