Leaving full time work to meet 9 months BTEA prerequisite.

    Hey guys,

I'm in a total rut working in a pretty dismal environment for the past three years. I'm wanting to go and do an undergraduate course next year in university and basically am planning to finish up at the end of the month in order to meet the 9 months credited out of work/JSB needed to qualify.

I'm not planning to be a sponge by any means, I really just wanna get into college, do this course and put myself to proper use in the world because the current job is really more hassle than it's worth. I have no problem seeking part time work, skilling up in FAS courses etc in the meantime rather than sitting on my arse because these don't interfere with getting BTEA.

I've had two conflicting bits of advice so far on what to do. One friend done exactly what I want to do, was given his jobseekers straight away and waltzed back into education the following September.

Another friend who has experience working in welfare told me it's the worst possible thing to tell them when you go to sign on, and I'm probably better telling them I just couldn't hack the job anymore, since you'll get payments after nine weeks anyway.

I'm basically just looking for advice or maybe info from people who've been in the same situation? Thanks.
