Accounting Technician course while working in unrelated field

I'm thinking of doing this two year course in the evenings, but is it possible to actually qualify while working 40 hours a week in a unrelated field?

I've done FETAC courses in the past relating to accounting but they're only level 5 so I'm not sure that'll make things easier.

Also, I see Carlow IT offer BA evening courses in accounting which would be perfect for me as I'm not far from the college, but is there any hope of me getting on this course since I didn't do very well in accountancy in the leaving cert and have no accounting work experience?

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.
