Any chance dirt in the tank is blocking the pipe.
Our 996 had similar problems a few years ago. We took off the tank, washed it out and no problems since.

You could have a pin-hole leak in the pipe going to the pump. You're basically sucking in air at the hole.

Keep it full, to cover the hole in the bit of pipe that's in the tank. Or take out the tank and take it to a radiator repairs and they should be able to put in a new pipe.
