A few of us are heading to Birkdale for 2 days of the Open in July.

Has anyone got any recommendations for b&b/hotel accommodation in the area?

We'll have a car so a 10 mile radius would be fine.

    Thanks.

My advice would be to stay in liverpool. park the car at the hotel and get the train(40mins) from lime st to hillside (5min walk to the course). ye can have a few beers then and not have to worry about traffic either.
That's exactly what we did in 2008. (harrington ya legend!!!!!)

    Thanks Fearruanua.

Everything booked. Flights, tickets and got a B&B 20 mins by train from Birkdale.

Decided to leave the car at home after reading your recommendation.

    good stuff, all sorted so.

A few of us, after a drunken conversation one night at a house party, decided to go to the open for the first time in 2005(tiger in st andrews) we had such a great weekend of golf, beer and good craic that we went again in 2007(harry in carnoustie),2008(harry in birkdale) and 2009(cink v watson in turnberry).

It really is a great weekend. Enjoy it!!
