Shed concrete base worries

    Hi,

I just had concrete base for a shed poured, it consists of a flat slab, a DPC and a floor of 50mm. I think I was advised badly as I think they should have done a rebate base (where the floor concrete goes right down to the hardcore separated by the DPC).

My concerns are that there is nothing to hold the upper slab in place, although I know it can't really go anywhere. Also, with the DPC being on top of the base slab that it doesn't have far to go to get through the floor.

The shed is a highly insulated unit so putting it on a substandard base has me worried.

Any advice? I'll rip it out and do it properly if I have to.

Finding it very hard to follow the build-up described - any chance you could do a quick sketch with a few lines on a page of what was put in and what you think should have been put in?

Also you describe the shed as "highly insulated" but you didn't mention any insulation in the floor at all?

What you are describing ( I think ) is the recommended method from a major supplier of Steel Sheds

So its from the ground up, hardcore, DPC, 100mm of concrete.
    Then the shed is fitted.
Then, another DPC inside the shed, and 40/50mm of a final floor screed.

As mentioned by Metric Tensor, if the walls and roof of the shed are insulated, then insulation in the floor would make sense

The ''Stepped Base'' where the frame sits on a ledge around the edge, of a 150mm base, with a DPC underneath, has a lot of problems, usually in securing the frame the DPC will be punctured rendering it useless. Otherwise moisture can be forced up into the shed by cappilary action, and is not recommended.

Is this the set up you are describing ?
