Whats App Group for Regular Golf Outings

Hi Guys,

Looking to setup a whatsapp group where people can just mention that they are looking to play a game of golf and people can say if they are about or not.

Only have two people at the moment but i think if we can get about 10/12 people in a group it will mean anyone wanting a game should be able to make it out with someone.

I think whatsapp would be better as seems it is used more often then viber

Would this work better if a few local clubs advertised it. Nearly all the golfers I know aren't on this forum. A good few of them aren't on any form of social media either. Is anyone going to drive much more than an hour for a casual round?

I suppose this is more aimed at people who are not members at clubs or dont have any people that they can play with and have a friendly game! In all honesty the majority of people in Ireland live in and around the Leinster area and im happy to drive anywhere for a game! Im sure we can find a dozen people who are in the same boat.

The reaon why a boards thread doesnt work is because you send a message and no one replies for a few days! whats app works straight away and is alot more personal! if you send a whats app you generally will have 10 replies in 2 minutes! when was the last time you setup a boards thread and everyone wrote back with an answer straight away??

Perfect example Keano was i asked at 11:50 yesterday if anyone fancied a game Saturday? with not one answer where as in Whats app you get a yes no in minutes!

Not a fan of replying when a thread is locked, but needed to point somethign out - there's lots more golfers in Ireland in the 3 other provinces as well!!!

Hi Charlie,

Appreciate theres plenty of golfers but its just a fact the majority of people in ireland live in Leinster. I am happy to drive anywhere when im over for a game as driving doesnt bother me and i know theres plenty of lovely courses outside the Leinster area.

I just wanted to try get a group of people together in a group that struggle to find people to play with and take it from there more then welcome to join if you live outside of the capital

That's a very petty post from someone who would lay the hammer down on any other user if they posted it.


I think the idea is very good an totally different to a thread on here on terms of getting replies instantly.

Great idea I would join but I'm in the south east Waterford area but like you I find it difficult to get people to play with as I work 4 cycle shift.

Great idea- surprised you encountered such mod negativity. Not for me as I play enough golf to keep me busy but hopefully you will build up a good list.

Give me a shout if your ever free as I'm always happy to travel as I'm used to it with my job, so driving is no issue for me!

Anything regardless or format or medium that increases the chances of us getting out is worth a try, good luck with it.

Well done for at least having a go at trying to organise a 4 / 8 ball for those of us who don't have a large golfing network to call upon.
