New Passport = New Esta

    Just a heads up in case anyone was not aware, If you replace your passport (renewal,lost etc) Then you must also apply for a new ESTA even if you already have a valid one. I suppose that makes sense but it is something that we never thought about. The missus renewed her esta in may 2016, her passport expired in august 2016, I Got a phonecall from her this morning all in a fluster, it went along these lines:
    ( I have bleeped out the swearing) " The bleeping bleeps wont let me on the bleeping plane, they said my bleeping esta is not bleeping valid, I feel bleeping sick, what the bleep am I supposed to bleeping do now for bleeps sake".
    So based on this opening conversation it occurred to me that she was a little upset about the whole situation. Anyway the guy told her she should apply again straight away for another, which I duly did at 6:30 am whilst half asleep, got it done read her out the application number she was then able to proceed on her journey and all ended well, which is a good thing cos I wasn't gonna be listening to that mad bleep for the next week bleeping on about how she should be stateside and wasn't.
    So just remember if you renew your passport you must renew your esta.
    I always thought that you had to apply for tha esta at latest 48hrs before travel,but there you go.

    What does esta stand for?

    ESTA stands for Electronic System for Travel Authorization. ESTA is an online application system developed by the United States government to pre-screen travelers before they are allow to board an airplane or ship bound for the United States.

    When you apply for your ESTA, they give you the expiry date. If your passport expires before the normal 2 year term, then the ESTA expiry date will be equal to the passport expiry date. I'm sympathetic to your wife, but this would have been displayed to her on the ESTA, so she should have known.

    Probably my fault really cos I do all those esta applications for at least 8 different family members, as for the wife, it took me 10 minutes to explain to her how to copy and paste a message on her iphone :eek: I'm no genius but when it comes to technology that woman is a cavewoman.
