Damaged alloys on new premium cars.

I was admiring two 162-reg Audi S-Line A3 Saloons recently. In Daytona Grey and 18" alloys. Both cars had their wheels badly kerbed, one had all four severely damaged, the other had the front two marked around 80% of their rim's circumference.

Amazing how anyone can fork out for an S-Line model with lovely rims, then proceed to inflict severe damage on them.

Do kerbed rims affect trade-in value on premium cars?

I know I am ocd about minding my rims and use the mirrors for parking to ensure I'm well away from kerbs. Can't understand people's carelessness/indifference.

High end motors are often bought on PCP plans these days. The motorist won't necessarily have forked out the list price or anything like it.

Mind you anything with 18" or bigger is hard to avoid kerbing in my experience.

People really need to learn how to mount kerbs

Tight spaces to park in = marked alloys. I've mine 6 months and I've put several scrapes on them already... I can't avoid it. Mind you theyre wider than the car.

    Hire cars?

Most people won't be used to driving on left and will be hitting kerbs

Marked wheels are my pet hate. Some people just aren't bothered. One of mine has a miniscule mark since I had tyres swapped. Annoys me knowing it's there even though you have to look for it. I wanted a full size spare anyway so I have a new wheel at home to go on next tyre swap...

Any premium dealer will be sending kerbed rims to be fixed before anyone purchases anyway I'd reckon.

I reckon that's it exactly. I've some pretty hefty speedbumps around my area and the amount of 161/2s I see that think they're The Dukes of Hazzard would seem to indicate they don't have any vested interest in the vehicle.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Alloy wheels sizes are getting much bigger and tyre walls smaller these days meaning they are more fragile. Those diamond cut rims are the worst and a right pain in the hole to refurbish.

Some drivers are just plain careless too no matter how much the car costs or what badge it wears, even more when someone else is paying for it.

This is nothing new. People have been careless with their cars long before pcp and diamond cut alloys were invented. Unless you're really into your cars, the tyres/alloys are black circles under the car that are sometimes handy for guiding you into tight parking spots.

You can absolutely avoid it. Its easily avoided using a strange thing correctly called the steering wheel.
