100,000 miles on a near 7 car (diesel I assume) isn't high mileage, it's actually low for a diesel. I'd recommend contacting each garage that did services to verify all essential maintenance has been done and records are genuine.

Do a motorcheck for mileage & write off etc

Are you buying from a main or Indy dealer or pvt? Let me know the Reg and I'll see if I can find out anything about it that you might need to know.

I have a 10 2.0 diesel mondeo. The econetic version

I love it Ive had BMW's and various VW's and Audis before it and I prefer the Mondy.

The only thing you need to look for is the DM flywheel. I had mine changed at 80k miles as it was starting to go. Cost €1200 at a Ford garage which was actually cheaper than any indy garage I could find. A solid FW conversion wasn't available at the time so I had to stump up.

At 100k miles, id ask if this was done, if not, expect it coming.

Other than that, ive only had to do regular maintenance jobs, tires, brakes, battery (so easy to replace), and a broken windscreen.

    30k miles done in mine

TB changes at 125k interval. which is coming up now for me. I done believe its too expensive.

I have the 2010 Titanium X version. 2l Diesel currently at 120k miles. Brought it in from the UK. Had a problem with the DPF so had it changed in Liverpool, DPF, timing chain and waterpump while they were at it. So much cheaper there.

It has given me no problems.

I looked at the mondeo, nice car to drive, just looking for advice now re service book, there was no service book with it, just receipts, is that normal or unusual?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Is it an Irish car or import? Very unusual for a UK car not to come with a service history. If you have the garage's contact details on the receipts then ring them to verify what work they carried out.

It was purchased in the north by the current owner, 4 years ago, no service book, but has all the service sheets in a folder, the car has 104,000 miles, drives very well took it for a good run, seems a genuine guy he said no bother yet with the clutch, so no flywheel done yet.

There is a mondeo titanium in a dealerships beside me, 2008, going for 8900, and has high miles...
This mondeo im looking at is 2010 with a lot lower miles, and going for 7000, is that the usual price or a bit low?

Do you have a link to the advert? 7k sounds very cheap unless it excludes VRT.

It's an import so make sure to do a history check on the old UK registration.

The guy said he has it 4 years, from about 50,000 miles... no service book, but a folder of service sheets from garage in northern ireland and then from when he got it. Theres a small dent in rear drivers side door, he said about 150 to fix, other than that car seems fine, wee bit dull in colour up close but probably needs a good polish

Yes deffo get its history checked for the sake of €30 try and get its Uk reg and check it under that, though some online checks will give its Uk history too I believe. You can also check its mileage at its last Uk mot. There is a thread in motors about clocked imports, the info in there would help you to make sure this mondeo is good.It does look like a nice car for the money.

Definite plus putting all the service data in the add, alleviates suspision re: low mileage diesel.

    Still, €30 to motorcheck.ie is a must.

    Loos a nice motor.

Also run a UK history check on the old UK registration as sometimes the Irish ones may miss something.

I did the motorcheck 35euro option, everything seemed fine, apart from, the hire purchase information, it says 'This vehicle is subject to an outstanding finance agreement according to official finance records in the UK'.

That was back in 2013 when the car was brought over by the current owner to the republic

    Any ideas?

Not impossible that it's just a clerical error as it's been noted on boards before. That said, was the finance company named in the report? If so, contact them directly and verify. If clear, request letter/email stating same and move ahead to next stage.

No names, i had the option of updating finance report, and then carcheck said theyd text me to let me know if finance is still owed, they contact the bank during bank opening hours then text the result.
