So last night I was coming down the cork to mallow road just gone blarney and was doing 110km/hr , just 10km\hr over the limit and passed a speed camera van.
Will I be expecting penalty points and a fine? Or do they usually not bother if it's just 10km over the limit?

your speedo could well be 10% out so you were probably OK.

Depends on which way it is out, he could also be in trouble :)

Car speedometers are purposely set on the faster seed tolerances only.

A car speedometer cannot tell you that you are going slower than what you are actually doing due to safety etc.

Then can however tell you you are going fast than you actual speed and this is they way they are set up with their tolerances

I got three penalty points and 80 euro fine for doing 56 in a 50 18 months ago.

Unless you've fitted a larger diameter wheel than stock...

Yes Correct, I was talking about the way the cars are manufactured and delivered. Wheel size modifications will affect this if your speedo if it is not re-calibrated for new wheels.

Changing from 15 inch to 18 inch will add about 8% from online calculators (i.e Speed reads 100kph, Actual Speedo should read 108kmp, Actual Speed ??something less than 108)

sorry, but the point of going from 15 to 18 is you fit low profile tyres meaning your diameter can stay the same. You'd be foolish to do it any other way

On the subject of car speedo readings.... what about those warning signs that flash your speed at you as you drive past? Are they accurate? Do the speed vans read your speed the same as these signs do? Because my speedo always tells me that I'm doing more that what's flashing on the sign...

The signs are likely to be quite accurate and the vans / other cameras would be accurate to certainly within 1km/h

That would be normal - as mentioned, speedometers are designed to overstate speed slightly. EDIT: Technically, some speed detectors can understate speed if the object is substantially off-axis.
