Just one trick or treater here so far.

They do dress up the kids these days. No more black plastic sacks.

Not a sinner. Even have the lights on and a bucket of treats waiting. Their loss.

I left Lucky in charge of the sweets back home, I warned here not to give any away, but that bitch is too goodhearted for her own good.

One came, had nothing in the house so ran to the shop and got loads. Haven't had one person since.

I couldn't be arsed dressing up so just have a bloodied bandage on my head. Better than nothing.

Just had a small girl knock. I answered, she looked at my bandage very concerned and asked "what is that?". Her bucket was empty. It must have been her first ever time trick or treating and had no idea what was going on.

Just before that, two boys, probably 4 and 8, knocked. The younger charged in the door past me to look for the sweets. His brother basically had to pull him out. Father ran up the driveway to apologise.

The first knock was just before 5. It's half 6 and almost out of sweets already. Looking forward to turning off the lights so we can have some peace and quiet.

Young child told me the dangers of the candle in my pumpkin.

"If I caught fire I'd have to roll on the ground. I don't like doing that, I had to do that last Halloween ".

We are new in the estate we live in now so didn't know what to expect, I'd say we have had over 100 kids so far, have had to raid my own kids sweet stash and my wife's fancy chocolate is next on the list

Estate is over run with witches and ghouls, perfect weather for it. Have barely been able sit down for an hour, thought I had too much junk but will have run out soon. Good craic and all the kids calling have been very pleasant and polite which is great to see.

Only 2 kids here... Where are they all..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,277 ✭✭✭Cheshire Cat

25 so far. All dressed up and very polite. The dogs are in the utility and have given up barking at every knock and ringing of the door bell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭Bacchus

Nearly out of treats here. It all spiked at around 6, just the odd doorbell every 10 minutes or so now.

    Now... they feast

What time do they stop at?

In the olden days when I went around, it was understood that most houses would have run out of supplies by 7. We rarely saw anyone out after that time.

Not to put a downer on it but the very phrase "trick or treat!" still reminds me of this very night years ago when those guys stormed into a pub, shouted "Trick or Treat!" and gunned down loads of people.

No kids calling here yet. More food for me!

3 so far, but i am in the middle of nowere, so not bad.

Just home with our own treats, and we prepared 30 bags of treats, and then hastily put together 10 more, and there are 5 left.

After that it is pumpkin in, curtains closed, lights out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,860 ✭✭✭Hooked

Raised my game tonight... And made my very own 'jack skellington' pumpkin. We've no kids, but I have family / friends with kids nearby, so my wife and I like to get in the spirit.

Have had about 10 calls. Maybe 50 kids... Getting quiet now. Plenty of the 'stash' left. Any late callers gonna get the LOT!

Not to put a downer on it...

You need to redouble your efforts at not putting downers on things.

No callers here though we have produce ready. Boxes of sweets bought more in hope than expectation. Plenty of houses around but just very few kids in the area. We had 2 last year. None the year before. And like 6 then. Wow. :P

50 to 100 callers? Really don't think I could gather enough ever stock up. You must be fairly disciplined not to hand out the entire stock in a wheelbarrow to the 10th caller.

A good few called but it seems to have stopped now.

A gang knocked at one stage and I overheard a little girl of about 4 in the background chanting "I want treats, I want treats, all hail me" :/:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,482 ✭✭✭Hollister11

None at all. My dogs scared them off.

Have been cleaned out, have given out half my Mini Rolls as well. After last yeat, thought a box of Heros would be more than enough.

Thought I heard a knock about 15 minutes ago, choose to ignore it. Will check the front door and my car for eggs later.

20+ here, however one was a repeat. He'll get fruit if he calls again

However most of them seem to pre-occupied with turning part of the estate into a smouldering crater.

Made up 150 bags which are long gone, syphoned out of the kids stash is keeping us ticking over till it stops.. think we're about there now.
