Glass wool attic floor

    Hi

    I'm looking to floor the attic and put in staighre

    There is currently glass wool covering floor

    Should I remove this before flooring?

    Or cover with floor?

    If at later stage we converted the attic: windows and stairs would the new floor need to be removed?

    Remove the insulation, and then have no insulation at all...just in case you might decide to convert the attic.
    Hmm...

    You really should put in loftwalk type insulation.

    I'd leave it. It's also good soundproofing. It's no harm having it there.

    It does seem a lot easier to just leave it there

    And regarding converting: would that require taking up the floor (cos we would need to put down girders to support the roof)

    Usually as the timbers are usually too small to support a floor and as you say you'll need extra support. So that would all come up. Looks like for you that possibly a cheap inexpensive quickly laid floor to hold storage boxes etc is all you need . I wouldn't spend too much on it or putting down if you are going to be paying someone to rip it out in a few years
