Just a quick question regarding open comps,

Can a person with no handicap play in these?

No. Must have an official HC.

Depends on the club hosting. More often than not they will allow it in my experience, but all they will be doing is playing casual golf and won't be in the competition

Thanks for replies. We ended up playing a casual round anyway. One of the guys in the group had no handicap so we didn't enter.

    Was it a team even?

If it was singles I don't see why you wouldn't enter

Sometimes if one of my team pulls out late, I often invite a non gui member to play and simply do not include his scores. Some clubs will allow it if the player has a society handicap and you ask in advance, but its always safer to just not return non gui scores.

Lads the simple and correct answer is, it's up to the individual clubs, so ask them in advance and let them decide.
