Temp guage vs odb2 readings

Recently had the thermostat in the car changed.
It would sit at 75 degrees and hardly ever hit 90.

Now it hits 90 and sits there.
But when I turn it off the the 2 rad fans stay on for 2/3 mins. Pretty much after every drive.

Logging with torque via the odb2 port the coolent temp Sensor reads around 100 steady.(car guage at 90)

    This normal?
Car is a mk5 golf gti otherwise 100%
I never heard the fan before getting the stat done but I've only had it 3 months.

    Cheers

OBD reading would be correct. Pretty much every modern car these days doesn't have a real temperature gauge on the dashboard. They show 60 degrees quicker than the car actually reaches 60 degrees and sit around the 90 mark even though the coolant could be anywhere between 75 - 100.

It sounds like either the new thermostat is bad or the wrong type was fitted which opens up at a different temperature. 100 degrees steady is too hot to be honest!

Do! The fan kicking on after every drive is definitely not right. Maybe they used a thermostat for a non-GTI! Being a GTI it may run a bit hotter and requires a different thermostat compared to your average Golf.
