Hello all so I'm looking to buy a new dishwasher our old one has caved in again and rather than spending 120 quid getting it fixed I think it's time to get a new one, had the old one more than 6 years at this stage

Any recommendations don't want to spend massive amounts especially with Christmas only around the corner

What's your budget? Just a standard white non integrated type?

Yeah standard as standard as you'll get

I'd recommend bosch, have one it's very good . Quiet and stuff always sparkling coming out of it. There are no little wheels on the sliding drawers which usually fall off on most dishwashers . Paid 350 for it 2 years ago

There's a siemens one in power city for €500 with 5 year parts and labour warranty. The mother had a Siemens one for around 15 years and only replaced it because she got a new kitchen. There was an identical Bosch model at the time, same thing different name.

At the other end of the scale I got a beko one for 189 and got 5 years out of it. Again only got rid when I got a new kitchen.

Apologies for hijacking thread, our Neff integrated Dishwasher stopped taking in water to do its cycle this morning.I had noticed that the last few evenings at the end of a cycle there was water remaining lying in the bottom of it.When you set it to start a cycle it's making the noise that it is on but no water entering to do the wash.

Is it worthwhile getting someone out to try and repair it or just bite the bullet and get a new dishwasher. Its about 5 years old with no previous problems.

    Thanks for any replies.

Check the drainage pipe first, it may be blocked or kinked.

Probably worth getting it fixed. Most likely a blockage.

For what it's worth, we have a Whirlpool 6th sense for a good few years that washes dished just until they're clean, apparently. Hasn't been troublesome at all.

High initial investment: but Miele dishwashers have a lifetime guarantee. Plenty of people have them for twenty years.

I splurged on one when my kitchen got rebuilt, six years ago. Runs smooth as clockwork, never a snag. Yes, it's all true about Miele!
I expect at LEAST 10 years from it -- that's a hundred quid a year, not bad, really.

Isn't the Miele warranty 5 years?

We need a new integrated dishwasher.. Teka one came with kitchen has faulty switch panel.. It's only 2.5 years old. Very disappointed wit lg it. Looking at a neff integrated 12 place setting at 400.

It's certainly not a lifetime warranty.

A lot of their appliances are only 2 years warranty, some 5. Don't know if there are any Miele appliances with a longer warranty than 5.

Took out the instruction book for the Neff, read through the trouble shooting section.Took out the windmill shaped spray handles, cleaned out some gunk from them.....'reset' the cycles on appliance and held my breathe.

It's working perfectly again,so delighted and saved myself a call out fee.

Thanks for any replies to my question.

Neff is only 2 year warranty. It's certainly a more credible brand than Teka of course.

Keep in mind the ikea appliances have a 5 year parts and labour warranty. They're rebranded Whirlpool.

I got the ikea integrated washing machine, dishwasher and fridge last year and they've been faultless (not that you'd expect them to have broken this soon)

I bought a Bosch integrated one last year and I'm quite happy with it - much quieter than the previous one (that came with the apartment).

One feature that I'm particularly liking (which may not be unique to Bosch) is the movable cutlery basket. The basket can slide side to side along the front bottom row, which is where I put side plates and dinner plates. I put side plates on the left, and dinner plates on the right. If I have more or less of one, I can just slide the basket over. Also very handy if you have a big dish of some sort on the bottom as well.

My mother's dishwasher has a separate top "drawer" for cutlery, and that's handy too. I'd hate to go back to a fixed cutlery basket in the middle again.

The other useful feature (again, not unique to Bosch) is a high handle on the bottom rack - saves your back a bit when rolling it in and out.

Can you say the model of the Bosch - I know nothing about dishwashers but ours is a bell rental, before a whirlpool - both ok but noisy and both needed the cutlery basket replaced
God - what would one do without a dishwasher... before the kids we got a few days out of it.

Hope this is the right number:

    SMV53A00GB/29

Just googled the number to make sure it's the right one and found this review site, where everyone apparently hates it and had endless trouble with it. I still love mine, and haven't encountered those problems, but you might want to read the other reviews before committing!

just had a quick glance at the review site where most of the problems seem to arise with drying, all the old design dws dried off the dishes with an in air element whereas now the delph is dried from the heated water of the final rinse. to get the best results from any dishwasher you need to use rinse aid liquid, this does two jobs it helps to put a shine on the delph but it also helps to shed water. with regards to poor wash results this is nearly always caused by the user not having the filters located properly
