Problem starting car

    Hi, I've a 04 ford cmax 1.6 diesel.
    Having trouble starting it today.
Went to the shops and when I got back in the car it wouldn't start. Wasnt even trying to turn over,no clicking noises.
Not a battery problem all lights on(hooked booster up and tried it and nothing).
Opened engine fuse box, those square fuses(think there heavy duty fuses?) ,the one for the solenoid and ignition seemed fine. When I tried starting I can hear a single faint click from the box(think its the relay receiving the signal to start?)
Kept trying to turn the key then boom it started ,I thought grand went home, tried starting again and now the problem is back, getting nothing when turning the key,to start.
Any ideas? Thinking a loose connection to the starter motor?.
Edit: it starts with a push start if that makes any difference

If it's not turning over it would point to the started motor.
