Change Lexus to Altezza on the book?

I have an Altezza that I am looking to resell. If I reshell into a Lexus shell, can I go about any changes so I can either keep my original reg. (have the chassis no. on the book changed to match the new shell) or change the book from the new Lexus shell to an Altezza?

Just wonder how to go about it in a sort of legit/legal way, with a beams engine in a Lexus and not be stung for ringing!

    Cheers in advance, S.

No you can't it will always be a Lexus IS200. You can put the 3SGE engine number on the IS200 logbook but theres no way of changing it to a Toyota Altezza.

Look at it this way, if you put a 2j in can you call it a supra?

It will still be an is200, unless you turn it into a ringer, which there is no need when there's so many legit is200 and tezzas out there.

So if I can't get an Altezza shell for my 3SGE, and I put it in a Lexus there is no legal way of doing it?

Regardless of the fact that it will essentially be a full Altezza, engine, running gear, dash, power and handling and the only thung Lexus IS the stamp in the shell?

So which is the best of a bad bunch, ringing or is200 with engine swap?

You can get an engineer's report to say what it is, i.e. reshelled Altezza but getting insurance would be difficult to say the least.

You can do it legitimately, you'd have to get an engineers report to Change the engine number and code on the vlc, after that it's down to what you choose to tell your insurance company.

The model and type of the car attaches itself to the chassis, so it's always going to be a lexus is200, you can put any running gear you want in it but it'll still be the is200.

The chassis number is tied to the reg number. You can't keep the reg from one shell and put it on another.

Considering all of those things are identical in the IS200, it is still an IS200 with a 3SGE engine and nothing more.

It's an IS200 with an engine swap. Thats the only legal way of doing it and good luck insuring it afterwards.

To be honest, I'd just sell whatever you have an buy an Altezza. It's not hard to get and will be more hardship to build than it is to buy.

No engines were harmed in the making of that YouTube video.....all of the cars shredded were 'engineless'. :)

...and then uses the engine to crush the car. Brilliant.
Takes me about 4 hours to get one of those out....if it all goes well.

Get yourself an automatic 6 cylinder altezza to use as the donor shell that way it'll still be an altezza on the book the engine and transmission can be changed on the logbook to manual and 3sge then to suit the new car you'll need an engineers report to do this.

It will be an AS200 on the book though which will still be wrong, technically speaking.
